— SYNOPSIS
August Strindberg is travelling with his wife, Siri von Essen, when he hears that a woman writer has taken her own life. The case becomes the seed of Miss Julie — but as he finishes the play, his marriage falls apart.
— DIRECTOR’S NOTE
This version frames Miss Julie with the true story of Siri von Essen. The characters of the play were performed by contemporary dancers, while Strindberg and Siri were played by actors, so each world spoke in its own language: one through the body, the other through text. The piece asks how hatred, and what we fail to give each other, ends up wounding ourselves.
